Our mission is to use music education, cultural exchange, and music appreciation as a bridge to uphold Taiwanese American culture.
Our history
Since the establishment of the Elite Chorus in 2013, there have been many high-caliber performances, all of which have received high praise and great response. We performed with many well-known musicians and international award winners, including:

以立合唱團於2013年成立至今有多次高水準且具代表性的演出，均獲得極高的評價及廣大的迴響。並與多位榮獲國際音樂大獎的知名音樂家同台演出，包括：

楊子清/ 首席指揮 Cliff Yang, Principal Conductor
楊子清台灣台中人，是一位具備開拓精神及闖勁的音樂家。曾追隨名家學習小提琴、聲樂、合唱指揮及作曲。曾任「省立台中一中」樂隊指揮、「靜宜文理學院」合唱團指揮。1980年代曾任「洛杉磯水晶教堂感恩節音樂會」聯合合唱團指揮、第一屆洛杉磯「彌賽亞」聯合詩班指揮、洛杉磯首度海頓神劇「創世紀」聯合詩班指揮。1995年1月為日本神戶大地震舉辦的孟德爾頌神劇「聖保羅」聯合詩班指揮。1997年與好友共同創立「洛杉磯半音合唱團」並擔任指揮10年，並於2001年受邀於「台灣國家音樂廳」演出，且巡迴全國。1992年創立「台灣人聯合基金會／台灣名家演奏系列委員會」並擔任主席。
楊子清指揮過的曲目非常寬廣，他擅長指揮古典神劇及台灣原創合唱曲。尤其因為他與台灣著名作曲家蕭泰然教授是好朋友的關係，他指揮過蕭教授全部的合唱作品。2015- 2018年，他受邀擔任亞美尼亞共和國舉辦的「文藝復興」國際音樂大賽的合唱評審。2017年5月楊先生擔任總召集人，為大洛杉磯台灣會館籌劃首屆「亞洲合唱節」，並邀請包括台灣在內的五個亞洲國家的合唱團參與其盛大演出。同年八月他指揮百餘人的聯合合唱團及五十位音樂家的交響樂團，在世界著名的「迪士尼音樂廳(Walt Disney Concert Hall) 」演出比才的歌劇「卡門」選曲。2020年他指揮以立合唱團在「台灣台中國家歌劇院／大劇院」演出普契尼的「榮耀彌撒曲」，2022年在紐約卡內基贊克爾音樂廳演出威爾弟安魂曲及歌劇的合唱選曲。他現任「以立音樂基金會」理事長，及「以立合唱團及管弦樂團」的首席指揮。
Cliff Yang Conductor
Cliff Yang is a conductor with enthusiasm, decisiveness, and musicality. He conducted the joint choir of the “Crystal Cathedral Thanksgiving Concert”, the first Messiah concert, the first Haydn’s “Creation” concert in 1980s. He also conducted Mendelssohn’s "Saint Paul" in 1995. He founded the “Half-step Chorus” In 1997 and served as conductor for 10 years. In 2001, he was invited to perform at the Taiwan National Concert Hall and toured the country.
Cliff Yang has a wide range of repertoires. He is adept at conducting oratorios and original choruses from Taiwan. From 2015 - 2018 he has been invited every year to participate in the choral jury of the "Renaissance" International Music Competition in the Republic of Armenia. In 2018, he conducted a combined choir and a symphony orchestra to perform selected pieces from Bizet's opera "Carmen" at "Walt Disney Concert Hall". In 2020 he conducted a combined choir and chamber orchestra to perform Puccini’s “Messa di Gloria” at “National Taichung Theater” in Taiwan. In 2022 he conducted selected choruses from G. Verdi’s Requiem and operas at “Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall” in New York.
To expand the footprint of the Elite Chorus, Mr. Yang has led the group to sing and participate in international competitions and other festive activities in Armenia, Russia, Canada, Taiwan, etcetera since 2018. He is currently the chairman of the Elite Music Foundation and is the conductor of the Elite Chorus and Orchestra.
黃令先/ 作曲家、鋼琴演奏家、指揮 Lynn Huang, Composer, Pianist, Conductor
黃令先的作曲技巧曾獲知名樂評家Prosy Abarquez-Delacruz於洛杉磯亞洲雜誌Asian Journal發表的佳評：
"...It was a bold display of harmony and disharmony “skillfully integrated,”sometimes reminding this writer of Bartok."(它大膽的展現和諧與不和諧，並且「很有技巧的」整合起來。有時讓我想到巴爾托克)
2015年黃令先以一首器樂三重奏的作品「甦醒」，榮獲第七屆亞美尼亞「文藝復興」國際音樂大賽作曲金牌獎，是首位台灣作曲家獲此殊榮。她與另外兩位音樂家組成「狂想三重奏」，於2016年榮獲第八屆亞美尼亞「文藝復興」國際音樂大賽室內樂首獎。其中一首選曲是由黃令先以20世紀現代作曲法為主軸特別為「狂想三重奏」量身訂做的曲子- "Rolling with Rhapsody"。2017年, 她指揮管弦樂團與百餘人的合唱團，在聞名世界的迪士尼音樂廳首演她的作品「甦醒」。2018年，受邀擔任亞美尼亞共和國舉行的國際音樂大賽室內樂組評審。2020年黃令先於「台灣台中國家歌劇院大劇院」指揮「以立合唱團」及「新世紀合唱團」聯合演出。2021年，黃令先為了撫慰重創全球新冠病毒COVID-19的受災者，創作一首三個樂章大型管弦樂及混聲合唱編制的曲子 “The Light of Hope / 希望之光” ，2022年10月8日在紐約卡內基贊克爾音樂廳世界首演。
黃令先，現任以立音樂基金會音樂總監、美國音樂著作權協會會員、加州音樂教師協會會員。她獲獎包括2011、2012年禪連兩屆華僑救國聯合總會頒發 「全球海外優秀青年榮譽獎章及獎狀」, 2014年南加卅台灣師範院校聯合校友會頒贈「傑出教育貢獻獎」。她的創作融合古典、爵士、台灣民謠，充分呈現台美人多重文化的背景。曾多次榮獲台灣金曲獎的「福爾摩莎合唱團」也邀請她為他們編寫合唱曲並於「台灣國家音樂廳」演奏。

Prosy Abarquez-Delacruz, Asian Journal
Lynn Huang’s instrumental trio work "Awake" had won her the Music Composition gold medal award in the 2015 Seventh Armenian "Renaissance" International Contest-Festival of Musician Performers. She and two friends formed the "Rhapsody Trio" had won the "Chamber ensemble" Grand prize in 2016. One of the performed pieces "Rolling with Rhapsody" is composed by Lynn Huang. She used the 20th century contemporary composition technique and was tailor-made for the Rhapsody Trio. On August 19, 2017, Ms. Huang conduct her world premiere of AWAKE, a four movements mixed choral music with full orchestration at the world-famous “Walt Disney Concert Hall”.
In 2018, She has been invited by the organizing committee of the "Renaissance" International Contest-Festival of Musician Performers in Armenia to serve as a member of the jury of the nomination of instrumental ensemble. On June 1st, 2019, she worked as the General Coordinator of the “Asian Music Festival – 2019” and successfully invited trios from four counties including Taiwan, Japan, Korea, and Philippine. In 2020, Lynn conducted a joint concert of the “Elite Chorus” and “Taichung New Era Chorus” at the Grand Theater of “National Taichung Theater”. In 2021 she composed three movements mixed Choral piece “The Light of Hope” dedicated to the victim of the Covid-19 pandemic and world premiere at Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall, New York on October 8th 2023.
Lynn’s composition blended elements of classical and jazz and were drawn from rich traditional Taiwanese folk songs. “Formosan Singers”, a multiple times winner of the Golden Melody Awards in Taiwan has also invited her to write choral music for them and they had performed them in the “Taiwan National Concert Hall”.
Our Concert History / 本團演出經歷
- 2014: In August and October, we performed Mendelssohn’s oratorio "Elijah" at the “Concordia University Center” and “First United Methodist Church Pasadena”. We had more than 100 singers. And it was accompanied by 40 orchestra musicians.
- 2016/04: Performed selections from Camille Saint-Saens’ opera "Samson and Delilah" and the selections of Handle's oratorio "Samson" at The San Gabriel Mission Playhouse.
- 2016/10: Performed with the alumni association choir of the Hankook University of Foreign Studies Southern California at the Chin Hyun Mission Church in L.A.
- 2017/05: Performed at the Asian Choral Festival. The festival invited choral groups representing five Asian nations: Armenia, Korea, Japan, Philippine, and Taiwan.
- 2017/08: Held a "Harmony and Friendship" concert with the famous "Los Angeles Korean-American Musicians Association" at the world-class Disney Concert Hall. The show had a large lineup, including a festival orchestra composed of 50 musicians and more than 100 choir singers. This was the first time that a Taiwanese American choir performed at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. It’s also the first time that a Taiwanese-American composer (Lynn Huang) conducted her award winning music for world premiere at Walt Disney Concert Hall.
- 2018/04: The Elite Chamber Singers was awarded the second place in the chorus competition of the 10th "Renaissance" International Music Competition in Armenia Republic.
- 2018/06: Performed the "Music for Friends" concert at The Arcadia Community Church, California.
- 2018/07: Invited by the Canadian-Taiwanese Association to hold a concert in Vancouver B.C., Canada.
- 2018/08: Invited by the Los Angeles Korean American Musicians Association to participate in a “Peace Concert” at the famous Walt Disney Concert Hall. Program including “Dona Nobis Pacem (Grant Us Peace)” by R. V. Williams, “Korean Fantasy”, and “Finlandia” by J. Sibelius.
- 2019/09: Held a “The Beloved Music of Puccini” concert at “First United Methodist Church Pasadena”.
- 2020/02: Held a joint concert “Awake” in February with “Taichung New Era Chorus” at “National Taichung Theater” in Taiwan.
- 2022/10: Held two “The Light of Hope” concerts at “First United Methodist Church Pasadena“ and “Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall, New York”. Composer (Lynn Huang) conducted her grand choral work “The Light of Hope” for world premiere.
- 2023/09: Performed the "Peace Concert" at the Haugh Performance Art Center in Citrus College.
- 2023/11: Performed "The Light Of Hope" concert in Taipei's Songyi Hall in Soochow University, as well as in the prestigious and largest performing art center in Taiwan, National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts, also known as Weiwuying in Kaohsiuyng, Taiwan.
- 2014年8月、10月於"First United Methodist Church Of Pasadena "及"Concordia University Center "演出孟德爾頌「以利亞」（Mendelssohn-"Elijah")大型神劇(Oratorio)。
- 2016年4月於San Gabriel Mission Playhouse "演出聖賞(Camille Saint-Saëns)的歌劇(opera)「參孫與大利拉」(Samson and Delilah)與 韓德爾(Handel)的神劇「參孫」(Samson)選曲。
- 2016年10月於"Chin Hyun Mission Church "與韓國外語外貿大學校友會合唱團(Hankook University of Foreign Studies Southern California Alumni Association)聯合演出。
- 2017年5月，另組室內合唱團(Elite chamber singers)參與「亞洲合唱節」(Asian Choral Festival)代表台美人與亞美尼亞、韓國、日本和菲律賓的代表團體聯合演出。
- 2017年8月與著名的「洛杉磯韓美音樂家協會合唱團」在世界級的迪士尼音樂廳舉行「和諧與友誼」音樂會。演出陣容浩大，包括由50位音樂家組成的節慶管弦樂團，以及百餘位合唱團員。這是台美人合唱團第一次在 Walt Disney Concert Hall 的演出，也是第一次將曾經得過國際音樂大賽首獎的作品「甦醒（Awake)」呈現在舞台上，並由作曲家黃令先親自指揮的世界首演。
- 2018年4月以立室內合唱團榮獲亞美尼亞第十屆「文藝復興」國際音樂大賽合唱組第二名。
- 6月，於”Arcadia Community Church”舉行年度音樂會。，並首演作曲家黃令先的新編曲台灣民謠「牛犁歌」及「雨夜花」。
- 7月，受「美西夏令會」及「加台協會」邀請演出於「加拿大溫哥華Coast Coal Harbor Hotel 」
- 8月，受「韓美人音樂家協會」邀請演出於「Walt Disney Concert Hall 」的「和平」的演唱會Peace Concert。主要的曲目有：R. V. Williams 的Dona Nobis Pacem (Grant Us Peace) 「給予我們和平」，Korean Fantasy「韓國幻想曲」以及西貝流士的「芬蘭頌」。
- 2019年 9月在帕薩迪納第一聯合衛理公會舉行一場「普契尼的跨國浪漫」音樂會。
- 2020年 2 月在「台灣台中國家歌劇院/大劇院」與「台中新世紀合唱團」聯合公演「春 醒」音樂會。
- 2022年10月分別在加州First United Methodist Church Of Pasadena及紐約卡內基贊克爾音樂廳舉行「希望之光」音樂會。並由作曲家黃令先親自指揮大合唱曲「希望之光」的世界首演。
- 2023年9月在加州Citrus College內的Haugh Performance Art Center公演「和平」的演唱會Peace Concert。主要的曲目有：作曲家黃令先的「希望之光」和新編的台灣民謠, 「威爾第－安魂曲」及「孟德爾頌－神劇聖保羅」選曲。
- 2023年11月在「台灣東吳大學松怡廳」和「高雄衛武營國家藝術文化中心音樂廳」與「台北弦樂團」聯合公演「希望之光」音樂會。
